ARTIST BIO

Janet Matthews
Janet's brilliant use of coloured pencils and graphite has justifiably placed her in the forefront of artists using her chosen mediums.  Her realistic, detailed and gentle drawings of animals and birds are keenly collected in Australia and overseas.  Janet manages to capture the personality of her subjects, often showing the conversations between them and feflecting her own personality and sense of jumour.  By combination of graphite and colour and her choice of interesting and challenging 'situations' with her subjects is both distinctive and memorable.
Janet is an multi-award winning artist, exhibiting regularly in Australia and Overseas.  Some achievements include commissions by Australia Post for stamp images released in 2006 and 2009; artwork seleveted for Focus in Nature" exhibition 2010 and 2012 as well as work selected for permanent collection in the New York State Museum.
