Guyan Dream by Steve Brown

ARTIST NOTES: This painting depicts a female tourist at Coral Bay, Western Australia, a beautiful location with the wonderful underwater corals of Ningaloo Reef. I saw her after a trip through the Kimberley where I'd experience Aboriginal rock art of Guyan figures (estimated as about 20,000+years) and the Wandjina spirits (a few thousand years ago up to the present). I show the tourist amongst the ancient Guyan spirits (both have high hairdos & tassels) as they view new settlers, possibly the Wandjina people of years ago or today's refugees?

ARTIST BIO

I'm a retired industrial chemist (2018), and have several interests: travel, kayaking the bay, making red wine, photography, painting, pottery, collecting aboriginal art - all good hobbies. My own art style (I like to think) is 'quirky' and as I get more proficient with digital photography I hope to push my photography in a similar direction.
