ARTIST STATEMENT : THERESE VAN HAASTER
My interest in art began in my teenage years. While living in North East Victoria, I attended classes and workshops with internationally renowned artist Charles Sluga, who greatly influenced my formative painting years. It was here my love for watercolour began, and I discovered the magic of mixing water and pigment on paper and the wonderful effects it could create.
Since moving back to the Mornington Peninsula in 2009, I have attended watercolour classes and workshops by well known artists Greg Allen, Robert Wade, Glen Hoyle, Ev Hales, Tammy Warner, and many more. I have exhibited and sold my works at the Peninsula Art Society Art Show, Mornington and Rosebud Rotary Art Shows, Flinders Art Show, Oakhill Gallery Mornington, Frankston Waterfront Exhibition, and solo exhibitions.
I have won a number of awards for my paintings and completed numerous painting commissions. My works are displayed nationally and internationally and my love for watercolour continues. |
