ARTIST; DOROTHY MC VAY
Dorothy was born in Williams W.A. in 1945 and married in 1965. She went on to have 3 sons and 1 daughter.
She moved to Melbourne in 1971 where she did commercial art through the Art Training Institute of Oakleigh then fine art with numerous well known artists.
Her works have been presented to the Shire of Healesville - The Army School - R.A.C.V. & Epworth Hospital in Melbourne.
Dorothy has been painting professionally for 36 years and has passed on her knowledge by teaching for 8 years.
She has also demonstrated twice at the Camberwell Rotary Art Show.
She has held 18 solo exhibitions and a 2 person exhibition with Ron Muller . Exhibitions held in Victoria, Queensland, N.S.W. and Western Australia most of which were sellouts.
Dorothy has won numerous awards including, the Purchasing Award in the Streeton & Roberts Awards held in Sherbrook Art Soc.second prize for oils at Pakenham, highly commended at Springvale, Lilydale, Mulgrave and Camberwell Rotary and two highly commendeds at the Wirreanda Festival in Marysville (Vic). Her work has also been featured in the Australian Antiques Magazine and the Australian Art Collection Calender.
During these years she has supported the local Hospital in Healesville , the S.E.S. Healesville, the Primary School in Healesville, Epworth Hospital in Melbourne,Healesville Music Council, The Anti Cancer Council in Melbourne & her local community through her church by donating her works.
Her works are found in private collections throughout Australia and many other countries. |
