Julie's artworks are grounded in her response to the natural environment. She works in her Melbourne studio from plain air sketches and her photographs.

Julie works fluently with watercolour, acrylic, and collage, responding to the nature of each medium to allow her artworks to develop organically. The resulting artworks show a considered use of colour to convey mood, and strong graphic design, with an eye to create balanced compositions. Her work continues to evolve, employing mixed media, as she becomes more process oriented and expressive, exploring the interplay between representation and abstraction.

Julie commenced painting in 2007 under the tutelage of watercolourist, Greg Allen, one of the Twenty Melbourne Painters. She has since expanded into pastel, acrylic and mixed media; undertaking studies with noted artists, including Craig Penny, Agata Lelek and Maxine Wade. Julie has continued to develop her skills through short courses and workshops with Maxwell Wilks, Ross Paterson, Regina Hona,Robert Knight and Yesim Gozukara.

Julie is an exhibiting member of Brighton Art Society and Glen Eira Cheltenham Art Group. She has been working as GECAG's Art Show Coordinator since 2014 and in 2020 became President.

Julie works from her Melbourne home studio and enjoys painting representational and impressionistic abstractions of seascapes, landscapes and floral works. Her aim is to convey the essence of each subject; portraying their mood and atmosphere.
